I like this game, a lot. I would go with saying, a little too much. It has stolen my very being away from me. But anyway, so, the game, right! It is a first person shooter with some role-playing game elements. Unlike most other FPS games there are hundreds of people playing per server. The concept of the game is a 3-sided war between the Vanu Sovereignty, New Conglomerate, and the Terran Republic. It is set in the future. The map is a globe, with 10 continents. Basically what you do in the game is attack bases, hold them and defend them. It sounds easy, but it’s not. You have to worry about the hundreds of bad guys, and they all want to kill you, which sucks. Hopefully you have formed a squad, ‘cause that will help. Squads are groups of up to 10 other people. If 10 people is not enough, there are always outfits. Outfits are groups of a lot of people.
There are RPG elements to this game. You gain experience. Every time you gain a level you get a certification point. With these points you can gain access to different weapons, armors, vehicles, and skills. There are a variety of weapons, as well as vehicles. The skills are engineering, to repair vehicles and armor; medical, to heal people; and hacking, to hack stuff faster. That is the basic gist of the game. And thus concludes the serious part of the review.
I LOVE this game. I am part of an outfit with the people from Somethingawful.com. We are called the Goon Squad. I am an advanced medic and engineer. I heal and repair everyone’s armor. My rank in the outfit right now is Ghetto Blaster. Which means nothing really, just that I am around a lot. And by a lot I mean most of my time. [Editor’s note: He’s not kidding. This review was turned in a whole week late because he was playing this game.] Our outfit is in the Vanu Sovereignty. Vanu are the whipping boys of the game. We get “nerfed” (game term meaning weakened to balance the game) a lot. Most of our weapons suck and one of our unique vehicles sucks. The real only advantage we have is that we look cooler.
Dirt got all mad at me ‘cause I play the game too much and he wanted me to write a review, but I kept putting it off. But really, what I was doing was research for this review. [Editor’s note: Bullshit!] I think it is ok that I put this off a lot, ‘cause one of the guys from Red vs Blue started playing and they did not update the week he started playing. I think I will do some extra “research” now.
